Gone are the days,
When the 1st thing of dawn was
my mother’s voice and not the alarm tone,
And the only urgency was to maintain the
tunic plates,
Watching Dad filling bottle and Mom wrapping
tiffin,
Getting instructions to drink the whole
bottle and complete the tiffin,
Rubbing polish to make mirror in the shoe,
When the only complex thing was to tie
lace of the shoe.
Gone are the days,
When the pending work was restricted to
the thing written below the heading Home Work,
When the longest waiting time was for a
week for games period,
When the strategies were made for eating Horlics,
When the only problem was of broken lead
of pencils,
Sharing nonsense with friends without
thinking what they will think.
When the only pains were of falling
down,
And the punishments were restricted to
standing out.
